Morning Devotion- 6/25/2012

Sometimes in this life we feel all alone… as if no one hears us or is there for us. But it is so important to realize that the Lord is always with us and will not leave us. Often time the Lord will allow things to come our way so that we will trust in Him more and realize that our strength is in Him, not in the works of our own hands. I pray that the following passage will encourage you to keep pressing on, even when things seem impossible, because the Lord is right there with you!

“O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 49:27-31 NLT

My thoughts are fixed on You Lord!

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

We live in a fast-paced society where there are so many thing pulling for our attention, and often times our attention is pulled away from Christ (I know I’m super guilty of this!). Working a couple of jobs and being involved in various ministries at church can be draining at times, and I’m learning that my renewal is truly only found in prayer and meditation on the Word of God. I have often been so guilty of working myself into exhaustion and not spending that precious time with my Lord. And when that happens, I feel so disconnected in my efforts (and I DO NOT like that feeling!). We have to remember that our efforts for the Lord must begin in the Spirit and covered with prayer in order to be successful (Galatians 3:3, 6:8). Thankfully, the Lord is always so gracious and loving, and He’s always right there with a refreshing touch in the Holy Ghost. What a mighty and awesome God we serve! To think that He could busy Himself with so many other things, yet He takes time to strengthen and renew me when I need it and when I seek Him for it!

So I encourage you to make every effort to seek God throughout your day. Sometimes it may seem like it isn’t possible, but remember with God all things are possible (Mark 10:27) and that we can do all things through Christ (Phil 4:13)!

Here are some things that I’ve done to increase the time I spend focusing on Jesus during the day:

* Playing a recording of the Word of God – I love to do this first thing in the morning (especially if I’m running late and cannot read my Bible first thing in the morning). It just sets the atmosphere for the day and helps me to memorize the Word of God.
*** If you need an audio Bible check out http://www.faithcomesbyhearing.com for a free download or streaming audio. http://www.BibleGateway.com also has the Bible available for audio streaming.

* Arrive at work a little early – by doing this, my mind is off of traffic and trying to rush to work and I can spend some alone time with the Lord before a crazy work day. I usually bring my Bible with me, but I like to us YouVersion’s Bible app to read on the go because it makes it very easy to share passages with my twitter pals.

* Playing gospel/Christian music throughout the day. – this keeps my mind stayed on the Lord and in a mind to worship

* Praying in the car – I cannot tell you how many times God has touched my heart when I take my 20 minute (sometimes longer) commute to work and use it to talk to Him. He has not only spoken to me, but given me words or things to encourage others with.

Well, those are some things that I do, do you all have any tips/ideas? Please share!

Have a wonderful evening! God bless! ~t
